Shingen-ko Festival in Kōfu (April 3–5, 2026)

What is it?
The Shingen-ko Festival is the world’s largest samurai-themed festival, according to Kofu City Hall, honoring Takeda Shingen — whose statue stands proudly near Kofu Station. Thousands of participants will dress in traditional armor, recreating the pageantry and spirit of feudal Japan.
Special guests from Japanese cultural circles will appear as Takeda Shingen and other historical figures, making this year’s parade extra memorable.
This festival is managed and organized by the Yamanashi Prefectural Government Office.
